300 Cupcakes Later… 🧁

My mum absolutely loves baking, so at Easter she decided to put it to good use and set herself a slightly mad challenge — baking and selling cupcakes to raise money for Herts Young Homeless.

What started as a nice charity baking idea quickly turned into our kitchen looking like a small-scale cupcake factory. She ended up making over 300 cupcakes, all baked, piped and decorated by hand. There was buttercream everywhere, boxes stacked around the kitchen and probably enough sugar to keep most of Hertfordshire going for a week.

The cupcakes were Easter themed, with loads of buttercream, mini carrots and other decorations. I’m not sure she quite realised what she’d signed herself up for when the orders started coming in, but somehow they all got finished and boxed up.

Even better, the challenge raised nearly £1,000 for Herts Young Homeless, which made the hours of baking completely worth it.
